Within my veins flows the blood of those important to me;
That I might bleed before they do.
Within my mind rest resolve and ambition;
That I might grow ever stronger.
My spirit is forged of Loyalty.
How interesting,
that as springtime comes again,
frost should form once more.
Not much else to be said.
Bleh.
Such irony, that a person could be so easily inspired to hate the very society they seek to be a part of.
Third time logging in, finally found words for what I want to say.
To walk in profound silence. That silence that is not truly silence; there are any manner of trivial sounds permeating the air… the irrelevant banter of your neighbors, the clicking of doors, rumble of distant car engines, even the soft whisper of the AC unit. But none of this matters, it doesn’t count. There is still that overbearing, suffocating, leaden atmosphere of isolation, desolation and forlornness that one would never think it possible to experience. I hate this feeling. This feeling of contemplation, this feeling of being able to hear your own thoughts as if they were spoken to you and at the same time, comprehending none of them. This feeling that you are thinking about way too many things too deeply, when you aren’t thinking at all. Instead you are languishing in despair, despair born of… nothing. This is precisely what is so exasperating about such silences of the mind: you are frustrated because you are aware of the irrationality of your emotional state. You seek to lash out at something not in anger, but only to expel such energy, such force of spirit and vitality that you can prove to yourself, to anyone that you are alive. To make a solitary ripple across the glassy face of the world as you can see it. And the inevitable silence that follows. Seldom is the opportunity to remedy such a mood in ways you see fit, and it is only later when things are more lively that you can look back on yourself and feel foolish for something you could never reasonably seek to control.
Because I Think Too Much When I’m Bored…
Advice is unfortunately one of the few things in the world that is much easier to give than to take.
History…
Repeats itself with a little too much consistency for my liking.
Whatever.
DmC
I made the mistake of checking up on the new “DmC” (Devil May Cry 5) that is supposed to be coming out sometime in the future, to see if Ninja Theory had pulled their heads out of their asses yet. They haven’t.
At this point, I would suggest they drop what they’re doing, admit that they were wrong, and do a “DmC Redux,” which would be a Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2, Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition and Devil May Cry 4 slapped into a shiny, semi-overpriced package with an updated graphics engine. It would be a lot less work, they’d catch a lot less flak for it, and fans would be a lot happier, myself included. I might even go so far as suggesting adding in a wider range of playable characters:
Dante and Nero, of course, a repeat appearance by Vergil, and the introduction of Lady and Trish… perhaps even Credo. The possibilities are endless, and it would probably make a shit ton of money. But that makes too much sense, so it’s obviously not going to happen.
I think my biggest beef with the new iteration of DmC is not even that Ninja Theory is fucking up Dante’s character. It’s that they’re trying to explain parts of the story that… well, don’t need explaining. The early moments of Dante’s life are pretty straightforward, and, although not thoroughly detailed, it is more or less understood that his mom and demon dad along with his older brother made up a happy little family until his dad was killed because he had to seal his own power away along with the demon world, his mom was killed in the attack, his brother blamed himself for being too weak to do anything, and as a result everything went to Hell. (haha.) No need for more explanation. Instead, they should have gone in the opposite direction- explain the exact origins of Nero’s Devil Bringer, and flesh out his relationship with Vergil- is he, as many suspect, Vergil’s son? Is there some other reason for his inheritance of Yamato? Even the bonus cutscene at the end of DMC4 was a perfect setup for a sequel, a continuation. They could have even gone back to Dante’s latest trip to Hell at the end of DMC2, which, according to Capcom, is the latest game on the timeline.

Well... Who saw that coming? →
As much as I disapprove of the extremity of the death threats levied at Tameem and his staff, he really shouldn’t be surprised. He has demonstrated an incredible amount of self-involvement, narcissism and downright refusal to listen to critical consumer feedback. I’ve seen the gameplay trailers, and honestly, they’re pathetic. The first few sucked, and even the “secret” one that actually showed some of the combat… well, sucked.
Let’s take a look at what DmC is promising:
Complete re-imagination of Dante’s character and personality… which nobody asked for, and obviously nobody wants. There are a few more open-minded individuals who aren’t immediately disgusted with the new “Dante,” and kudos to them. But as far as I’m concerned, character consistency and likability was one of the things the Devil May Cry series was consistently getting right.
New, innovative gameplay and combat mechanics. This right here is the core of the bullshit. The trailer seen here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SH9SnovUOHg
shows that so far, the most we can expect in the way of new gameplay is a crappily expanded platforming element, and a shoddy rehash of Nero’s Devil Bringer and Dante’s Rebellion glued together and repackaged as innovation.
Tameem, Tameem, Tameem. I’m not going to say I want to kill you, or that I think you should die. Because I don’t. But you’ve gone through the completely uncalled for process of re-imagining a classic character that fans liked… for who he was, and have so far failed to do anything towards convincing us that in spite of our gut instincts, we’ll like what you spit out at us. At this rate, I’m about ready to label you the new Kids WB.
